Kerry R. Oman, PhD

Kerry is a native of the Springville/Mapleton, Utah area. After graduating from Springville High School he served a mission for the LDS Church in London, England. Upon returning home, and after a season of playing football at BYU and getting married to his wife Dianne, Kerry decided to focus on academics while at the same time start a career in real estate in 1994.

Academics soon won out, as Kerry developed a love for history, particularly the history of the American West and American Indian history. This love took him to graduate school where he earned a master's degree in history from Brigham Young University and then another master's degree and a PhD from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. During his studies, he spent considerable time in Antigua, Guatemala; Los Angeles, California; Albany, New York; New York City; Taos, New Mexico; and Dallas, Texas. From 2000-2004 he served as a consultant for the Oneida Indians of New York and two law firms in New York City and Washington, D.C. regarding litigation over Indian land claims issues. He is also an award-winning author, having published articles on early American exploration, the mountain men, and American Indian history.

After teaching for two years at the University of Utah, Kerry made the decision to return to real estate. His professionalism, as well as his research and communication skills, has helped him experience incredible success in the Utah real estate market. He is the principal broker of Blackhawk Realty.
